Our Goal !!
Education is the future and we wish to provide one for children who have poor chances living in Malang and environment. Permata Hati foundation enables these children to go to school by paying all costs involved. To be able to write and read lays an important foundation for a better future. Children who can read and write can take their lives in their own hands and do higher qualified work and earn more salary consequently take care for themselves and their families again.
New service area

As per spring last year we were assigned a new service area. It isTambakrejo. This dessa locates south of Malang at the coast. Until now we are helping 36 families in this area. Most families earn a living as fisher, farmer or farm-hand. The education level is rather low.
It takes around 3 hours to arrive in Tambakrejo since we have to drive a narrow and turning mountain road. Because it is such a long drive, we stay two days in a frequency of once in two or three weeks. In our Gallery you see more pictures.
New shoes

We try to give all the members of our project (approx.. 375) new shoes every year at Christmas as a nice but also useful present. Last time was in beginning of 2019. Because of the present Corona situation, this year no extra gift for Christmas. The money is collected by sponsors mostly from the Netherlands through the sister foundation Stichting Kartini.
No school but education by …. mobile phone
The COVID-19 measures had also consequences for our education project. The children were not allowed to go to school anymore. They had to do their homework, tests and exams at home. 15 minutes of home schooling per mobile phone through WhatsApp. They receive their daily homework and have to return it also by WhatsApp or e-mail.
When a pupil has no suitable phone they could borrow one of an elder brother, sister or neighbour. In some cases parents could purchase a functioning second hand set.

Extra food help
Thanks to help of our Dutch sister foundation Kartini we were able to help the families of our pupils with extra food. The parcels were distributed during the first months of Corona measures. As from August till December 2020 each family received 10 kgs of rice per month. In our Gallery you see more pictures. .
